RURAL PARISH ATTRACTS SOLAR FARMS

The future of solar farms is just beginning in Tangipahoa Parish.

While companies have spoken with private landowners about these projects, discussion with the local government has just begun.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller explained the parish government is still waiting on companies to come forward and that the whole economic impact of this new industry has not been discussed so far.

“The idea that we would be part of green energy is good, but the complete picture has not been presented to us yet,” he said.

Miller said he has initiated some calls to other parish presidents, and vice versa, and for the most part, they are all in the same situation – questioning what is the upside and what are the concerns.
